New Zealand cruise to ten-wicket win over Bangladesh
New Zealand completed an easy ten-wicket win over Bangladesh in the one-off T20I at Hamilton.
Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first, but were in trouble soon enough. Tamim Iqbal was dismissed in the third over of the innings for 14, after having blasted three boundaries, but at 37/1 in the sixth over, it looked like they had had a decent start.
However, the rest of the batsmen could only add 41 further runs while losing all their wickets. Apart from the top three, Mahmudullah and Raqibul Hasan were the only two who got to double figures, with the latter"s 18 as the highest score of the innings.
Daniel Vettori was almost unplayable, as he conceded only six runs off his four overs, while picking up three wickets. He won the man of the match award for this performance.
In reply, the Kiwis wrapped up the game rather easily without losing a single wicket. Brendon McCullum and Peter Ingram scored the requisite 79 runs off only 8.2 overs. McCullum slammed a swashbuckling half century, whereas Ingram celebrated his international debut with an unbeaten 20.
The teams will now play three ODIs and a solitary Test match.
